Building Community Leaders

The day you walk out of prison on early release from a ten-year sentence, you feel free.  That’s what Lee thought.  Not just free of prison, but of some of the other problems that had plagued him – cocaine, marijuana, alcohol.  He had spent years in the prison’s Alcoholics Anonymous program and even become a peer educator teaching fellow inmates about HIV, AIDS and Hepatitis.

But once freedom settled in, so did some old habits.  That’s when Lee’s parole officer referred him to Association House and the VISIONS Substance Abuse program....Read Lee's story.

Recently, Comcast volunteers came through Association House's doors to give back to the community. We give them our thanks for all of their hard work cleaning up our building, painting, and helping us build our new play therapy room!

Become a Volunteer Tutor!

Are you an Academic Activist? Do you enjoy meeting new people? Are you fluent in English reading, writing and conversation? Or how about math: fractions, decimals and percents. Then you might be a great volunteer tutor at the Association House of Chicago with our English-as-a-Second Language or GED classes.

Association House of Chicago is striving to improve the education levels of the community by offering Adult ESL & GED classes at no cost to students. With the additional help of tutors, more of our students will be able to reach their educational goals. All classes Start June 10th with this schedule: Mon-Thurs 9:00AM-12:00 or 1:30-4:30.
