The fun doesn't stop after the bell. Students can join in clubs and learn new recipes, drawing skills, play games with classmates and so much more! After School Programs Art Club The Art Program focuses on perfecting students craft around a variety of projects and freestyle days. We also watch anime to influence and inspire our projects. Culinary Club Demia Fisher Culinary Club is a student-driven cooking apprenticeship provided to expose teens to a home and commercial kitchen environment. The students learn the art of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation. They get to plan, prepare, cook, and present a full course meal. Gaming Club Santiago Duran Do you like games? Well, this is the place for you! We play video games, board games, card games and whatever other games there are to play. Music Studio The Music Studio is a music club where students get instructions on how to play instruments, use equipment and create good music. Our recording booth allows students to record their work and express themselves. FiTT Club Get FiTT is a club designed to teach students about health and fitness. We invited the students to try various types of workouts that include aerobics, yoga, and outdoor sports. Nail Tech Club Students meet and work on both live and model hands on the proper techniques and practices of the nail industry. We have now partnered with a local small business owner to help mentor/coach students through the process of providing quality manicures with or without acrylic. Responsible for revenue cycle management of the Behavioral Health Division and supervision of the billing and reception team. Implements training, monitoring, and evaluation activities that ensure compliance with agency protocols, Medicaid and other payers, and accreditation entities. Ensures accurate and timely entry of community-based mental health, substance treatment, I/DD, and physician billing. Analyzes trends and implements procedures that bring claims and any denials to efficient resolution. Works in partnership with programs to provide training, make claim corrections, submit registration and discharge information, and maintain up-to-date insurance eligibility, authorizations, and self-payments. Communicates with agency, DHS, HFS, MCO, and relevant external entities to identify and resolve issues related to the revenue cycle. Maintains accurate records to support each stage of the billing cycle and generates reports to substantiate these steps. Works in close collaboration with the Accounting department to ensure continuous reconciliation of payments. I have over 30 years of experience working in the culinary field in many places such as the Salvation Army, Calphalon Culinary Center, Illinois Institute of Arts, and more. What about your work inspires you? Since I was 18, I have loved to cook, bake, and travel exploring the food of the world. Through cooking, I want to be able to be of service to the community. I love to teach and share my experiences to people who don't have the financial resources to take up culinary. What's a fun fact about yourself? I love learning different languages. I speak Chinese Mandarin, Chinese Taiwanese, Chinese Fookien, Pilipino or Tagalog, English and am currently honing my Spanish. I was a professional Folkloric Dancer when I was in college, and a martial artist with a specialization on jitkundo. During my free time or weekends, I explore the food of new restaurants. Jacqleen is thrilled to return to the House after previously supporting our teams as the Director of PQI last in 2011. A counselor by training, her commitment to providing exemplary care is rooted in cultivating meaningful consumer, family, and employee experiences. Jacqleen most recently held roles as the Director of Community Outreach within Medicaid-managed care and Director of Hospital Relations at a critical care hospital and ER. Jacqleen's passion for advocacy has provided opportunities to facilitate collaborations within the community to positively influence health outcomes. Jacqleen uses each of her experiences to leverage her critical understanding of the intersection of factors that influence health while cultivating relationships to drive diverse and inclusive culture. Jacqleen was awarded the "Courage to Change" recognition at Aetna for developing peer recovery roles within the managed care framework.

Reporting directly to the President, Margarita collaborates with the other members of the leadership team, as well as the Board of Directors, to support the financial goals of the organization managing a $17M budget. Margarita brings 20 years of experience in process improvement, systems design, project management, strategic financial planning, monitoring and evaluation, public finance & policy planning across various organizations at the local, national, and international level. Before joining Association House, Rosas served as the Director of Finance with New York Sun Works, driving financial functions and performance. In her five years, Rosas was instrumental in expanding the organization from 90 to over 400 school partners, impacting 120,000+ students annually. Born and raised in Colombia, Margarita has been an international consultant for the International Monetary Fund, deputy director for social investments with the Colombian national government, and Founder of New Life for Everyone, a foundation that supports educational opportunities for over 400 children in marginalized communities in Bogotá. Margarita holds a Master’s of Public Administration from Cornell University, a Master’s in Regional Planning with an emphasis in Local Economic Development, and a dual BA/BS in Business Administration and Economics, both from Universidad de Los Andes. As a Latina, an immigrant, and a mother of a child with disabilities, Margarita feels strongly connected to Association House’s mission for inclusion and creating opportunities for marginalized communities.

Food preparation certification and culinary training for employment as a chef or cook. Stipends available and open to returning justice-involved citizens. Association House Kitchen What We Do Association House Kitchen is a fast-paced, 8-week pre-apprenticeship food preparation training and subsidized employment program for returning and justice-involved citizens designed to equip graduates for positions in professional kitchens. Still deciding if a culinary career is right for you? Culinary Fundamentals is a shorter, 4-week course designed for individuals who want to try out the field before committing to a longer program. Participants learn basic kitchen skills, food safety, and what it’s like to work in a professional kitchen. This course helps you build confidence, explore your interests, and decide your next step—whether that’s moving into our pre-apprenticeship program or starting an entry-level job in food service. Kitchen Skills In this program you'll learn: Industry standards and expectations Culinary terminology Classical knife skills Proper food preparation Techniques for maximum yield Use of most common professional kitchen tools and equipment Graduates will also earn their ServSafe Illinois Food Handler certificate. Personal Growth Our unique approach pairs culinary training with critical reflection through Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT). MRT is highly-effective in creating a positive identity, improving decision-making, and helping individuals recognize the social consequences of actions. Participants will receive two MRT sessions weekly during the program and for 4-6 weeks following graduation. How We Are Different In addition to hands-on training , our Culinary Pre-Apprenticeship Program provides one-on-one support and wraparound services to help you successfully transition into registered apprenticeships and employment after the program. Participants have access to an Income Support Specialist, Case Managers, a Career Navigator, Mental Health Counselors, and more.
