Drop-In Center How We Help The Drop-in Center provides a safe and comfortable peer-led gathering place for adults in our mental health programs, and for those who are transitioning from life in a nursing facility to life in the community. This is a place free from stigma and judgment. Here, we build support and connection. What To Expect Group activities such as field trips to area attractions, walks in the park, family movie nights, and holiday celebrations. Opportunities for personal growth through life skills groups, peer leadership, and meditation. Drop-in access to the TV room, reading room, game room, arts, and computers. We also offer beginner and advanced courses and certification through (MOS).  Tech#Ready How We Help Tech#Ready helps people develop the digital skills they need for future jobs. Participants will learn essential computer skills from experienced instructors. There are beginner and intermediate courses offered and certification opportunities with Microsoft Office Suite (MOS) available. Our Approach Association House offers two courses designed to boost digital literacy and confidence working with computers. For beginners, Digital Skills 4 Life provides the basics over 4 weeks: how to surf the web, use the many services in Google Suite, and protect yourself from online scams. For intermediate computer users, our Microsoft Office Skills course provides in-depth knowledge on the functions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and more.     The Know Your Status program provides culturally-competent, client-centered and evidence-based HIV Prevention, Intervention & Education programming at no cost. Know Your Status How We Help Association House of Chicago’s Know Your Status Program utilizes a mobile unit, its main location and partner locations as sites to provide culturally-competent, client-centered and evidence-based HIV Prevention, Intervention and Education programming throughout Chicagoland. The program’s goal is to reduce incidences of infection, help illuminate undiagnosed cases, and raise general awareness about the infection. Our services are available to anybody at no cost. Where to Find Us We provide community outreach services and educational workshops at drug/alcohol rehabilitation programs, recovery homes, health fairs, alternative schools, social services agencies and faith based organizations within the city. Request a Test/Appointment We provide rapid HIV testing using INSTI HIV-1/HIV-2 Antibody tests. Accurate results are provided in 1 minute. Or test yourself at home. We provide OraQuick rapid HIV tests by mail. This easy-to-use in-home test provides accurate results in 20 minutes. After the Results We have made it possible to work and connect with other HIV/AIDS medical providers within the city in order to provide safe and accesible medical care. We want people to know they will continue to be supported, no matter what their results may be. We're Here For You We are here to support you in more ways than one. We offer referrals for housing services, assistance with public benefits applications, mental health counseling, substance abuse services, navigating the Affordable Care Act, and so much more.     Ronald received his MBA in Finance from Northwestern, and he has been as a stockbroker for A.G. Becker, Smith Barney, and RBC. < Back Ronald W. Kurz Ronald received his Bachelor’s in Economics from Miami University and an MBA in Finance from Northwestern. His livelihood has been as a stockbroker for A.G. Becker, Smith Barney, and RBC. Most recently, he has begun a one-man investment management shop. Why I Serve? Ronald was introduced to Association House as a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Evanston. The Director, Hank Murray, turned out to be his high school Youth Minister. He lured Ronald in because he found that the work they were doing in job training, job placement, and life skills was the most important thing you could do. Fifty-four years later, Ronald is still invested in the House because it continues to get people into life-sustaining positions.

    < Back Pat Brown Pat attended University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and received her Master’s in Journalism. She also holds a certificate from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business for completing the Ellen Gabriel Fellows Leadership Development Program. Before retiring, Pat was the Executive Accelerators Managing Director at Deloitte. She also served as the Deputy Global Research Director for the CFO Program and is a facilitator for the program’s CFO Transition Lab™. Prior to joining Deloitte, Pat held various communications and marketing positions with other professional services firms and financial institutions. In those roles, she supported a range of practice areas and business development, working at local, national, and global levels.
