When you want to be a part of change, you just have to make things happen.  This past month a community volunteer group from the Logan Square neighborhood created a March Madness bracket to raise $1,000 for select, local nonprofit organizations.

Participating as Gonzaga, Association House came in 2nd and won $200! Through this entertaining opportunity, the Logan Square Volunteers 4 Social Change (LSV4SC) also raised awareness of our organizations’ collective impact by highlighting our missions and work for the vulnerable communities we serve.  It is all a part of their effort to learn of the root causes of systemic oppression that affect so many fellow Chicagoans and commit to helping nonprofits make change long term.

We at Association House commend those who want to be part of social change – and who take the time and personal investment to make it happen. Becki Stone, who nominated Association House for the March Madness bracket, serves on the board of LSV4SC, as well as Association House’s Auxiliary Board of Young Professionals.

“The organizations we support have a rooted record of success addressing the needs of our community, so we aim to learn from and support them,” Becki said.

If you’d like to join Becki and others in making an impact, consider joining the Association House Auxiliary Board. The Auxiliary Board group is an active, compassionate, and humble group of volunteers, who plans fun and engaging events, volunteer with our programs, and commits to being informed by our community’s expressed needs.
