If you have come to a Faces of Hope Benefit, you have for sure come in contact with Association House Board Member Cindy Ullrich. Cheerful and welcoming, the recent BMO Harris retiree is a pillar of what makes our annual event successful. Cindy, who is also the chair of our Special Events Committee, serves as the event’s host and also ensures there is a presence amongst the company where she was employed and everyone involved has a great time.

In her retirement, Cindy is dedicating more of her time to assisting Association House through the busy Faces of Hope season along with additional needs. Her efforts, so far, have assisted in bringing a different experience to the 2019 event.

“This year’s benefit is shaping up to be more interactive than past events! I am looking forward to some new activities that I think will be fun for the attendees and create an engaging event,” Cindy said.

Through her experience leading the host committee, and also an attendee, Cindy is able to gain a different perspective and appreciation for the evening as a whole.

“Nearly every year, my favorite time at the Benefit is when we get to hear from a program participant – an individual who has had a life changing experience because of the work that Association House does. I enjoy not only hearing the story, but also watching the reactions of everyone in the room. The work that is done by staff is truly amazing,” Cindy detailed. “This past year, another favorite moment was recognizing BMO Harris with the inaugural ‘Spirit of Hope’ award and I am looking forward to recognizing other companies for their significant support to the Association House over the years.”

This year, the Adtalem Global Education Foundation will be honored with the Spirit of Hope Award for their loyal support of Association House over the past 10 years.

Faces of Hope serves as both a reunion and an outlook toward the future. The event highlights the work of the organization over the year, while providing a base to continue in the future. Cindy serves as an advocate for the work that is done to assist community members to reach a more self-sufficient place or as she states it “the programs are not just handouts but a hand up.”

“I look forward to the benefit because it is a big source funding for the Association House. It is fun to enjoy the event with family, friends and other donors, who know how important the work Association House does is,” Cindy shared.

The 2019 Faces of Hope Benefit will be on Friday, May 17, at the JW Marriott Chicago. Be sure to mark your calendars and purchase your tickets here.
