SPRINGFIELD, IL – The Illinois Bankers Association (IBA) announced that it has partnered with BankWork$® and Association House of Chicago to offer a free training program that places low-income young adults and those with barriers to employment in jobs in the financial services industry. BankWork$® already offers the program in several cities across the country – Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Phoenix, Houston, Portland, Ore. and Denver – and it began in Chicago in late 2016.

The IBA was involved in training the first class of BankWork$® students last year and saw the benefits of entering into a partnership. “One of the biggest challenges for Illinois banks today is finding qualified entry-level employees,” said IBA President and CEO Linda Koch. “This program not only trains students for the financial services industry, but it also teaches them soft skills, like customer service and how to stand out in a job interview. We recognized that this helps fulfill one of our association goals of connecting quality talent with financial institutions and reached out to them about a partnership.”
