School Supply Drive 2012

Being prepared for the first day of school is an important step to achieving academic success throughout the school year. Unfortunately, many families do not have the means to supply their children with the many items needed to facilitate education.  High unemployment and school budget cuts have made it more difficult for schools to provide educational resources, forcing many teachers to spend an average of $1,000 of their own money on educational supplies.  Association House is committed to providing back-to-school supplies to underprivileged students for the upcoming school year.

Benefits of donating to Association House’s School Supply Drive:

• Ensure that children start the school year with the tools they need to succeed.
• Help teachers by providing them with proper tools for their classrooms so they don’t have to spend money from their own pockets.
• Support local schools and community in a way that promotes the importance of education.

WHO I AM HELPING?
Association House has committed to providing backpacks filled with school supplies for the first 120 children at the Fitness 4 Kids health fair.  Additionally, supplies are needed to support our Out of School Time programs, the foster children and participants in Child Welfare program, as well as our own alternative highschool, El Cuarto Año.

HOW CAN I HELP?
The cost of supplies to fill a backpack is $25 per student. If you would like to contribute, you can make a donation to Association House, or start a school supply donation campaign at your school, business, or place of worship by contacting nway@associationhouse.org for more details.
