Foster Parent Law Implementation Plan

How can you participate in the development of the Foster Parent Law Plan?

Association House of Chicago holds meetings in September and October each year to discuss revisions to the Plan and will meet in November to finalize the Fiscal Year 2012 plan. The Fiscal Year 2012 Plan will be submitted to DCFS by November 30, 2011. Association House Foster Parents and staff are encouraged to attend.

What is the Foster Parent Law Plan?

It establishes public policy 20 ILCS 520 regarding the rights and responsibilities of foster parents as an essential part of the child welfare team. Association House of Chicago is responsible for developing an annual plan for implementing the plan. Department of Children and Family Services and Private Agencies are responsible for developing annual plans for the law to insure that foster parents are provided with the information and support to fulfill their responsibility to full participate as a member of the child welfare team.

Scheduled meeting times are as follows:

  • 09/22/11 5pm Review of Fiscal Year 2012 Plan and DCFS Feedback.
  • 10/13/11 5pm Review of Fiscal Year 2012 Plan
  • 11/10/11 5pm Endorsement of Fiscal year 2012 Plan
  • 11/17/11 5pm Endorsement of the Fiscal Year 2012 Plan
