- Association House's Developmental Disabilities Program
My daughter, Juana, started in this program three years ago. She had isolated herself socially, had poor control of her motor skills, and was very dependent on me for basic care. After three years of participation in this program, Juana is now working on art projects where she writes, draws and sews. She can even thread a needle! Juana has become an interactive, even outspoken person. Her whole attitude has changed. She does not require constant attention from me any longer. She started at the program only able to speak Spanish, now speaks some English words as well. Best of all for me, she wants to go on our family outings more, something she did not want to do before her enrollment in the program.

- Association House's Alternative High School
My name is Adrian. I came to El Cuarto Aņo, Association House's alternative high school, to turn my life around. I was a father at age 17. I left high school because gang members wanted to recruit me; one even pulled a gun on me. I started taking GED courses at Association House and working here part time at an administrative position. I got my high school diploma and went on to trade school. I am currently studying to be certified as a heating and cooling technician. I have a higher-paying, part-time job at UPS to help me get through school. Association House is helping me be the role model that I want to be for my son.

- Association House's Substance Abuse Program
I came to the Substance Abuse program at Association House 7 years ago as a drug and alcohol abuser. I had lost everything. My children were taken away from me. I was fired from my job. My family wouldn't speak to me. I went into the substance abuse program at the Association House seven years ago. Not only have I remained clean, I got my kids back and I am in a stable job-training program.

- Association House's West Town Youth Services
When I was first referred to Association House youth services it was because I tried to jump from a third floor window. I was 14 years old. My grades were low at school, none of the teachers liked to have me in their classes. My family wouldn't help me, either. They are a big part of my problems. I have been seeing my counselor for two years now. I have learned to accept my family and to deal with my problems. I have advanced three grade levels in school. Last week I read my first book on my own. I have a more positive outlook and I don't want to end my life anymore.

- Association House Citizenship and GED Program
My wife, Maria, and I came to the United States ten years ago with big hopes and dreams for our new future. But our lack of education and status as illegal aliens dragged us into bad jobs and difficult times. We came to Association House for citizenship classes in 1998. By the next year we were naturalized citizens and I was enrolled in the Community Center's GED program. I now have my GED and my wife and I have good jobs as legal US citizens. Thank you.
